| My Most Memorable Goal | ||
By Joe Walters When I look back on my career, there is definitely one goal that stands out — my first-ever goal at Maryland. It was actually in my second collegiate lacrosse game. In my collegiate debut against Duke, I only had two assists in our win, so I was still unproven. For our second game, we traveled up the road to face Towson on a beautiful, sunny day. Just minutes into the game, I received a pass on the left wing, from about twelve yards out... It was the perfect shot — underhand into the far top corner; the ball actually hit where the pipes meet, the upper 90. I was ecstatic and so pumped up, but I also felt so much more relaxed after that first goal. So much so, that I went on to score another three goals and added an assist, helping our team win and moving to 2-0. | ![]() |
This goal is so memorable and significant because, to that point, no one really knew what I was capable of. But after sticking it, I felt confident, that even though I was a freshman, I belonged there and could compete at that top level. Next: Matt Danowski's most memorable lacrosse goal... |
