Key Position Skills Young Players Should be Developing

If goalies begin in a relaxed state, where they can be ready to be explosive in their movement to the ball, they will react quicker. If their position is correct, they give themselves the best opportunity to make a save. If their hands and feet move in a coordinated fashion to the ball, they give themselves a great chance to be successful.

As you can see, the very best goalies have a great attitude, understand the importance of position, and are fundamentally sound in their execution of making a save.

Game Summary: The ability to pass and catch, scoop and shoot with both hands in a variety of different angles, body positions and situations will allow

a player to enjoy their lacrosse experience to their fullest potential. But passing and catching while standing still are not enough. Players have to develop their skills on the run, making plays out of a spin move, or in tight quarters. The ability to switch hands, choke up on the shaft or make a one-hand stab of an errant pass will always help the team.
