Athletic Edge Lacrosse Creates & Launches Lacrosse-Specific Combine

April 17, 2009

Combines usually measure athletes' abilities to perform certain physical tests — a 40-yard dash, a shuttle run, a vertical jump, etc. And while these are measures of athleticism, they do not always translate into on-field skill. Therefore, the system of measuring and also recruiting is flawed.

Lacrosse Combine

In order to address these fundamental issues of collecting relevant, objective and quantifiable lacrosse-specific data, Athletic Edge Lacrosse has come up with a combine that not only adds lacrosse skill-testing to the physical measures, it also incorporates position-specific tests in a way that is crucial to coaches and players alike. For the first time in the game's history, goalies will perform goalie-specific tests, face-off men will undergo face-off testing, shooters will be gauged on shooting, etc.

— all in addition to completing relevant physical testing as well. This, then, creates an assessment that more truly foretells what will happen on the lacrosse field come game time.

Design of this ground-breaking combine incorporates the insight and experience of the some of the games greatest coaches and All-Star players. Player participation is anticipated to be overwhelming, as this becomes an invaluable recruiting tool for coaches of all levels and an evaluative tool for athletes who want to know how they measure up, and where they need to focus to get to the next level of play.

Enrollment will begin soon, as Athletic Edge Lacrosse will make combine testing accessible to players around the US and Canada starting this summer. Stay tuned for specific locations and dates.
